| Winter Hill
Rising up from the intersection of East Broadway and McGrath Highway, Winter Hill is the next jewel on our Broadway business boulevard. This pedestrian-scale thoroughfare offers all kinds of convenient retail, health care, financial, business, professional and personnel care services.
Near the proposed Green Line extension station at Medford Street -- once the "Winter Hill" commuter rail station -- this Broadway neighborhood business district has over 375 years of history.
From the top of Winter Hill you can enjoy views of the Bunker Hill monument and Boston's skyline or check out the historic Adams Magoun house. Massachusetts Bay Colony Governor John Winthrop had his farmstead on brow of the hill. U.S. Representative Edward Everett (who spoke before President Lincoln at Gettysburg) lived at the summit. Winter Hill entrepreneurs who have called it home have included Durgin and Park of the famous Boston restaurant and Sanborn of Chase & Sanborn coffee.
Today, U.S. Representative, Michael E. Capuano -- a Somerville High School, Dartmouth, and Boston College Law graduate representing the legendary 8th Congressional District --calls Winter Hill home. © 2006-2008
