Ball Square
Ball Square is the next jewel on the our major business boulevard of Broadway. Once you take a look, you can see how the square got its start in the days of horse and buggy. Predominantly one level and with those signature gas-lamp-looking streetlights, this pedestrian-friendly little neighborhood business district is anchored by the 100+ year old Lyndell's Bakery along with a comparatively new diner, a coffeehouse and a growing dining & nightlife to go along with convenient financial, health care, business, professional, and personal care services.
The British Redcoats marched through here. More recently, it is the scene for road races and visits by various news reporters.
Just a brief walk from a great neighborhood and the Tufts Campus, Ball Square is right next to a little green urban oasis at Nathan Tufts Park. Ball Square was once served by commuter rail, the area is in the existing transit right of way of the proposed new Green Line extension. © 2006-2008
